Saturday Do Lists

Yesterday we finally had a combination of a weekday day, no rain, and an empty dance card.  This left the day wide open for the dreaded “Honey Do” list but this was a day specifically created to spend outside.  Buddy was also scheduled for a long delayed bath which was less than welcome news to the Wonder Pooch.
Buddy Staging his Sit-In
I swear that damned dog can read minds.  He’s always ready to charge outside with me for any unspecified mission (usually involving squirrel herding).  When it was time to head out for his bath he planted himself squarely on the couch and refused to budge.  Either he understands the word “bath” or he’s psychic.  The bath did eventually happen after a foot planted drag outside.
To No Avail
My wife expressed some concerned about the frigid 65 degree temperatures but Buddy handled it with aplomb and did his Lab thing of drying almost instantaneously.  I rewarded his bravery with one of his most cherished activities - a ride in the car to Home Depot with the skylight open the whole way.  He scared the hell out of a small Filipino dude who walked too close to the car and all of a sudden had a very loud bark cook off only a foot away.
The Wife Working Her Magic
My wife braved the cold to start her annual flower pot creation which is when the house finally starts looking like summer.  She has a real talent when it comes to growing things and she loves flowers. That love is expressed with hanging flower pots on the front porch and an ever expanding number of flower pots surrounding the house as well as her vastly expanded gardens.  Her only frustration is the short outside growing season New England imposes.  She spent the entire day creating this year’s version of her artistic excellence.

Porch Flowers Are Up
To avoid being dragooned into flower planting assistance roles I puttered around the yard pulling weeds and mowing the grass which really appreciated all the rain we’ve had lately.  This was one of those perfect New England late spring days where it’s not really hot and the air is crystal clear.  I even scored a dinner date when my favorite Panamanian invited me out for dinner.
