Cooperating – A Lost Art

As the election is heating up and we endure an almost breathless amount of political advertisements, it seems to me that most of the candidates have once again lost the bubble on what most people want.  In this polarized climate that really began with Clinton, something else we have to thank that worthless fame hog for, the end of the political spectrums have already made their choice so why cater to them?  Those of us in the middle are looking for candidates that can reach across the political divide and get the nation’s work done, a seemingly lost art.

It could be that the lack of military experience in our pool of elected officials is telling.  In the military we were trained to always put the country’s interest first and to accomplish the mission.  Most candidates, both Republican and Democrat, are putting their political party’s agenda first.  It seems to me that Americans as a whole have lost inertest in policing the political process and that void has been filled by the political parties.

Truth is always the first casualty in any political contest but in today’s information age we are bombarded on so many different fronts that it becomes exhausting trying to sift through the B.S. to discover who it is you’re voting for.  I feel a little victimized by Obama, whom I voted for, because he certainly is not the man he portrayed himself to be in the last election.  Romney strikes me as an empty suit who sold out to the far right to earn the Republican nomination and is now trapped there.  It’s going to be a tough decision.

Really tough day at work yesterday, sorting through the aftermath of last Friday’s tragedy.  I saw the video of the accident and spoke with police investigating the accident as well as the driver.  Not pretty.

On the other hand the trees in New England are changing faster than I can ever remember.  I’m crossing my fingers that they last until next Monday’s annual Columbus Day foliage foray with my wife.
