Final Full Day of PanaGal-Mania

I was a little nervous yesterday.  My wife overbooked her planned events for the PanaGals.  She had a visit and walking tour of Boston planned; I was doing some mental rain dancing.  I knew she wouldn’t be driving into Boston so I was going to be nominated.  I’m not saying I wasn’t in tip top shape after our Saturday party exertions but I will unequivocally state I was genuinely pleased when the event was taken off the dance card.
Church in the Pines
I later learned it was not removed because of a lack of energy on the part of the PanaGals.  They heard the shopping in Boston was significantly more expensive and that was all it took.  We all went to church together where mass was conducted outside in the pine trees.  This was followed by a fellowship lunch where everybody sat together on one long table.  A passing rain shower dropped a very few light rain drops which was enough to send these natives of one of the wettest nations on earth running pell-mell for the car (I think it’s a preservation of the hairdo drill).
PanaGals and Escort at the Lunch
We returned home and the Gals departed shortly after noontime saying they had a few items to exchange and some “minor” last minute shopping.  I immediately assumed couch potato position #1, assisted by the Wonder Pooch to watch the latest Red Sox implosion in the suddenly deafeningly silent house.  An entire baseball game and two movies later they still had not returned.
It Was a Long Table
My sister (the nurse) had agreed to come up to give my sister in law a needed injection prior to their flight today since we were all too squeamish to stick needles in her.  Unfortunately the coordination for this support took place in the after-after-party following last week’s wedding.  We may not have been on top of our game at that point of the night in terms of specifics.  So my sister and brother in law showed up shortly after the 8pm return of the PanaGals to give the shot that needed to be done this morning (not last night).

We compromised on a quick class from my sister on how to give the shot – an orange was sacrificed in this effort.  They departed for dinner while I burned some steaks on the barbecue as a going away dinner for the exhausted PanaGals.  My sister, over dinner, felt so bad about the miscommunication that she and the brother in law returned to spend the night; much to the delight of the squeamish amongst us.

This provided them the opportunity to witness one of nature’s great marvels – a PanaGal suitcase packing event.  While we watched a movie there was a constant hum from upstairs as the various and sundry purchases from the past two weeks were cajoled into transportation mode back to Panama.  I was summoned at various points to perform the weigh-in of the different suitcases in the constant battle against airline weight limits.  A camouflaged backpack that was purchased as a gift was pressed into service as a carry-on bag to solve some weighty issues which should make a real fashion statement as they move through the airports.  They finally declared victory shortly before midnight so they could get a full three hours of sleep.  It’s how they roll.
