Holidays Arrive

Yep, Someone's kind of Happy
The holidays officially arrived yesterday when a very engaging young lay emerged from the Hartford airport to a pair of very excited grandparents. The coolest thing was that she recognized us and showed no hesitation at greeting us. This was a welcome development for her parents who were exhausted from a forced overnight stay in Atlanta with no baggage, which meant – no change of clothes. They were down to their last diaper but everything worked out.

We got them home and sent them upstairs for a rest while the two grandparents entertained the First Blog Reader, or vice versa. She loved the Christmas decorations and, as my wife hoped, was immediately drawn to the nativity scene. She mounted the scene and started rearranging all the figures which definitely a spectator sport for her grandparents. She had a heartfelt reunion with her friend Duckie, a large stuffed duck from her last visit.

Fully Engaged
We then journeyed down to Rhode Island to a fabulous dinner with the Great Aunt and Soxfather and the equally fabulous Soxfather family. My granddaughter was a little standoffish after being rudely awoken from her drive down nap but I was one of the only people she would let hold her so it wasn’t too upsetting in that regard. It was truly great way to kick off the holiday celebrations and I marveled at the changes in her since her last visit. She is quite the little entertainer. The serial hugs she delivered to me is not the only reason I’m saying that.

We’re firmly entering the no blog zone as there are a million others things I’ll be doing over the next couple days that are supremely more important than writing. I wish you all the very merriest of Christmases and hope you are surrounded by family or close friends (which counts as family as well). I love being a grandfather!
