Work, Sort of

I am assured that today is Monday, although there are none of the usual clues. We now have the entire condo building to ourselves so I guess that is an indicator. I should say I have the entire building to myself since my Favorite Panamanian has abandoned me. She traveled back to David for lunch with a couple of the Panamanian Mafia that happened to be traveling through town. She’ll also score some of the supplies we learned we needed after arrival, important things like popcorn and tonic water. Without my daily dose of tonic water before bed the leg cramps that had been virtually eliminated have returned, so I guess, kind of important. This also marks a return to work for me, obviously over the internet so we’ll get a solid dose of zoom over the next few weeks to see if this concept works. I have to say the view here has much to recommend it over the Man Cave.

Wife and I Last Evening

Some People Just look Better Than Others in the Setting Sun
I finally coaxed my wife away form her iPhone long enough for a sunset walk down the beach last evening. It wasn’t one of the more spectacular sunsets but still impressive. It’s funny how effective my Favorite Panamanian has gotten on the electromagnetic spectrum. A few years ago she was timid about using her iPhone but now she’s calling friends around the world from this isolated condo. I shouldn’t be surprised, it is a telephone, talk about a fish to water.

Sunset Last Night

I was back on the beach this morning for the workout and for the entire hour and a half I was down there I did not see another human being. Monday. Boogie boarding was a little less fun this morning as the tides had created a band of debris on the bottom when I was hip deep which I had to walk through to get to the launching site. I wasn’t real happy to step through stuff I couldn’t see, expecting something to bite me at some point. I know, me and my huge problems. It is interesting to see the shoreline ecology as the tide pulls out. Hundreds of holes pop up and creatures emerge, mostly fiddler crabs. There’s evidence of other creatures as well with tracks through the wet sand from the holes. I’ll have to ask my ecologist brother-in-law the next time he comes by.

One of those Holes with Surrounding Tracks

As I was heading upstairs after the workout I encountered a fairly large version of those fiddler crabs I was talking about. He had made his way inside the condo building and felt threatened by my approach. He tried to look as fearsome as possible but never made it past pathetic. I tried to escort him outside but every time I got close, he was into some serious brandishing and although small I didn’t want to test the effectiveness of the claws. He was gone when I passed by a few minutes later.
