Good News Tuesday

I was a little distracted over the past few days because my Favorite Panamanian was facing a medical routine today. Nearly ten years ago they discovered a dangerous aneurism in her brain and using what, at the time, was a fairly revolutionary technique; sent a robot camera up into her brain where they packed the aneurism and then installed a stent to protect it. Again, all this was done robotically through a device that was inserted into in a blood vessel in her upper thigh which then navigated up into her brain. Every three years since that time they repeat the procedure to check on the stability of the repair and also the status of a less dangerous aneurism on the other side of her head.

Back Home This Morning
Which Reminds Me - I forgot to Change Daylight Savings Time on the Living Room Clock
I always get nervous because inserting something into someone’s brain still strikes me as fairly serious. I try to put on a confident face so as to not cause undue concern for her but there have been a few sleepless nights recently. 2021 continues its winning streak though. I dropped her off first thing this morning and by 1100 she was back home with nothing but good news. Everything was stable and as it should be. The procedure has also evolved where they now can go in through her wrist which is a lot less dangerous. There is no need for the pressure bandage the prior iterations required and why she was able to come home so quickly. Sleep promises to be deep tonight. She still has to rest the wrist for 24 hours and not do any heavy lifting for three days but she should be fully qualified to pick up granddaughters this weekend.

BR3 Exploring

And Loving It
That is a good thing because that is exactly the dedicated course of action we plan to pursue this weekend with a trip to my Favorite Son’s house. This will be our first opportunity to see the new and highly mobile version of BR3. The favorite target for her new crawling ability are the electrical outlets  - thank God for child proofing. How did my generation survive without them? The BRS showed the first signs of a possible legal career yesterday. My son had just walked in from work when the BRS rushed up to him to report that “Mom was sad at her.” In the subsequent interrogatory the BRS stated she was a big girl now and Mom was upset because someone wasn’t listening to her. You can probably guess what my son’s next question was. The BRS readily admitted she was the guilty party and promised to do better.

BRS Making Her Case Last Night
We also had a Raya controversy in New Jersey. For the second time in her life the FBR went to a McDonald’s yesterday. The trip was for the sole purpose of obtaining a Raya and the Last Dragon happy meal. She wasn’t as excited about the meal as much as obtaining a figurine from the movie. She was therefore really put out to learn she was given a miniature battleship game instead. This was a truly angst inducing situation in which the FBR was decidedly upset. She’s already campaigning with her parents for a return trip to Mickey D’s to rectify this injustice. I have it on good authority one of her grandparents has already ordered a Raya toy for her and may be able to deliver in a couple weeks. Grandparenting 101.
