Demon Child

Unfortunately I arrived at the dentist’s office today and didn’t find the door locked as I did on Wednesday. I think dentists and their assistant hygienists sometimes forget there’s person attached to the teeth. They were in the midst of excavating and using, by my count, five separate implements, all of which were using my lips as a fulcrum. I’ll have to warn my Favorite Panamanian off from her usual enthusiastic welcome home until the bruised lips heal up. Never mind – It’s First Friday, that should mollify any pain involved.
Two Jacks on the Front Lawn
Halloween last night was semi-uneventful since there was a serious rain and wind storm ongoing. I have to credit the neighborhood kids that did get out – testament to their toughness. Since we didn’t think we’d get a lot of customers we were handing out literal handfuls of candy to each which should make us popular with the younger crowd over the coming year. It was fortunate we emptied the huge bowl of candy because the siren call of 3 Musketeers and Milky Way was certainly having its way with me. Unfortunately, as feared, the extremely high winds put a real dent in the autumnal foliage but my hilltop lawn as swept clean of all leaves that did fall. Against all odds the dead tree behind the house remained upright although one further back in the tree line was blown down.
FBR Transformed
The BRS was thoroughly entertaining last night. She was getting fussy until she realized she could get her abuela to react every time she gestured towards the IPad screen. She thought this was high comedy and her abuela reveled in the game. We didn’t speak with the FBR as she was out socializing with her fellow trick or treaters. We received these startling photos where the angelic (at least in photographs I hasten to add) FBR was transformed into a scary demon child, tributing her new fave Jack Skellington. It’s interesting to see the transformation from the Princess Elsa costume and her school photos from earlier in the day to the scary fiend in the later ones. Waxing philosophic, these photos demonstrate what life is like with a toddler – the good and the challenging. Whatever the case, the FBR is definitely a character.
So Cute in her Elsa Costume

And School Photos

Yikes!!!

Consider Myself Haunted
Finally one of my kids has done it to me again, trapped me into watching a television series they know would hook me. My daughter innocently mentioned I should check out the ABC series Stumptown knowing full well I couldn’t resist it after watching the first five minutes. I loved it and have watched three of the five episodes available already. I didn’t know the lead, Coby Smulders, outside of her Avengers gig but she’s awesome in this. She plays a semi-dysfunctional but highly competent Portland, Oregon private eye. I love the quirky dark humor and the supporting cast is spot on. Check it out if you get a chance.
