Friday Albondigas

A short post today (you are welcome) because my dance card is seriously full and as soon as my favorite Panamanian wakes up she’ll shepherd me to the dance floor (actually the basement). For reasons I’m entirely sure are completely sane I’m actually looking forward to more fully joining her effort at packing today. She’s done an immense amount of packing over the past week and it’s been a little unfair that I go into work each day to just sit behind a desk for most of that. Saturday puts a decisive end to that inequality and I’ll shortly be reinstalling new smoke detectors, disassembling furniture and finish packing out the basement.
My Excessive Lunch
Yesterday involved yet another full day of negotiations where we made some genuine progress although the toughest part lies ahead. My excellent boss always buys lunch for both negotiating teams and yesterday I asked the lady who was taking the orders to get a double order of meatballs since she was going to an Italian place. She returned and stated that she hoped I was hungry. She interpreted a double order of meatballs (four at most in my mind) to be ten meatballs! These things were huge. I only made it halfway through before securing the rest for a trip home.

First Friday was extremely well attended and we took the operations manager to task for his failure to attend last week. The excellent Brew City waitresses actually escorted my excellent boss and I to our table arm in arm much to the consternation of the ops manager. I returned home to find my wife just returning from an afternoon at the neighbor’s pool (so the week wasn’t all packing). I loudly pronounced I was arriving with “ALBONDIGAS” which is Spanish for meatballs and also probably my favorite word in Spanish. It just rolls off the tongue and is usually employed when the subject of the word is present (so win win).

My Gal With her Weekly Mudslide Last Night
Our next to last visit to Zorba’s while still residents of Charlton was spent with the inevitable pizza and the newly required frozen mudslide. We discussed the nature of our remaining tasks for the move and the paucity of hours in the Saturday we had to complete them, hence the full dance cards. I’m hearing footsteps upstairs so the first dance is being called.
