Broadway Bound and Mobile Grass

You’ll see from the attached photo that there has been an auspicious linkup in the Big Apple. Great Aunt, Soxfather’s Sister and niece have effected a meeting with none other than my daughter and the FBR. This is all ahead of seeing a Broadway show together. In a sign from the cosmos that all is as right as possible with the world, the show is at the very same theater that my high school aged daughter (at the time) engineered (all the way from Tennessee) a scenario to see her first ever Broadway show as well. She was escorted to that show by Soxfather and Great Aunt while I was running around Northern Virginia looking for a place to live. Such was the Army life. The FBR was bubbling with excitement last night when we talked both for the show and seeing Great Aunt (she of the generous sharing of iPad time with certain six year olds). The FBR needed a little entertainment (not to mention her geographically single mom) as she finally got her booster shot on Thursday.

Pre-Show Brunch

Injection Day
I’m into the devilish part of my backyard project as I’ve started burrowing into the hill and the resident rocklike clay that lies underneath the top soil. I’ve moved the grass from the target area and used that sod on the bare earth created next to the project. That will hopefully look better when it takes root. I made a tactical error in my approach to the project on Thursday. My deal with the Favorite Panamanian was that I wouldn’t kill myself with the work. I would only work in the two hours in the morning when the job site is in the shade. That was working out well but I noticed it was back in the shade in the late afternoon so I was out there for a couple hours Thursday evening. Big mistake.

Day 10 Progress

Day 11 Progress
I made the same discovery I’ve made over and over again since attaining senior citizen status. I’m not as young as I used to be. I know. There was a saying in the Army for statements like this, a Blinding Flash of the Obvious. There were a couple other adjectives added but you can guess. I woke up Friday feeling really drained. I still did the two hours in the morning digging, the swim workout and the bike workout, which, again, wasn’t a brilliant plan. I was dragging butt by the time First Friday celebrations rolled around which, as it is wont to do, completely resurrected my spirits, if not my body. Great Aunt and I talked a bit longer as the group signed off. Our conversation rolled around to Buddy the Wonder Pooch and how much we miss him. She sent me these photos of times she was babysitting him and he always tried to get into one of the other dog's cages. He was lovable but not blessed with an abundance of intelligence. I achieved more than my usual quota of sleep overnight and feel back to normal, so, lesson learned (again). We’re hosting our Czech friends for a Panamanian style dinner this evening so that will be fun and inject additional spiritual support.

Buddy Taking the Smallest Dog's Cage

And Then Sneaking into Remy's Cage
Two more movies have fallen in my A-Z effort, both keepers, 300, Rise of an Empire and The 300 Spartans, I think I’m about Thermopylaed out.
