Today marks my last full day of isolation at the homestead. Tomorrow, I head south to effect linkup with my Favorite Panamanian. This, of course, means I am in DEFCON critical level in preparing the house for her return and inevitable assessment of my custodial responsibilities. The plants are all still alive so I’ve got that going for me. Toilet seats are descending throughout the house as I’ll have to break that bachelor imposed habit forthwith. The vacuum will be working overtime as the Clorox wipes are liberally applied to everything I can reach. I know I will still fall short but she expects the effort. It’s also Mother’s Day this weekend, so…..
She was doing her own cleaning frenzy
earlier this week as she closed up the condo for the next seven months. I asked
her to show me the beach one last time as I still haven’t lost the pull back to
my January to April haunt. I’ve been distracted over the last couple days with
a trip to the dentist for a cleaning and all that entails. Yesterday the dermatologist
had me under the knife (literally) again. She was very pleased at my lack of
deep tan after three and a half months on a tropical beach. She still found two
spots she felt needed to be biopsied and we await the results. They’re both on
my back so a result of years ago sun exposure versus the past year where the
back was entirely covered every time I went to the beach. My Last View of the Beach
I also snuck out to see a movie yesterday, Memory. Liam Neeson is back in an action flick laying a dementia riddled assassin on a revenge tour of El Paso. Despite his advancing age, Neeson still carries the action and imbues the seemingly despicable character with a healthy dose of nobility. He’s on the tour because his bosses wanted him to kill a teenage girl which he refused. I guess these bosses never saw Taken because Neeson employs his special set of skills to dismantle a child smuggling ring all the way to the top. A really strong supporting cast helps with Monica Bellucci as the main evil doer. She exudes menace and charm. It’s not as if any guy could refuse anything she wanted them to do. Well except Neeson, and therein lies the rub. A generic but well-done action flick.
