My Favorite Panamanian semi-shocked me yesterday when she revealed we only had twelve more days on the beach! We don’t leave Panama until April 10th, seventeen days hence, so I was a bit confused (I know – a natural state for me). Apparently her close up plans for the condo include some additional time back in David, so there is hope I can convince her to add a few more beach days. I’ll have to be careful because when she gets into her luggage packing zone she is not to be trifled with. Returning here from Panama City, as much fun as that was, was a lot like coming home. My wife already claims it takes a small explosive device to separate me from the beach. She may be on to something.
My Double?!
Now that I have, in exhaustingly length
over the past couple posts, fully documented all the fun we had in the capitol
city, it’s time to catch up with the granddaughters. In the photo above, taken
of the BRS from her pre-school class, the ABFA immediately thought she could
see me reflected in my granddaughter’s face. I was intensely pleased to hear
this doppelganger entitlement but as I looked closer, she’s making a pretty
silly face and if that’s what it took to make her look like me maybe I shouldn’t
be so honored. What the hell, I’ll take it, she’s so cute. Both the BRS and BR3
were in high form last night for the Family Friday Facetime call. While I’ll
miss the beach, I can’t wait to experience granddaughter hugs again.Original Photo

The FBR was also on the call last night
recovering from a two-day sick out from school. She sprouted a fairly aggressive
fever on Thursday but was obviously feeling better last night. When I told her
I hope she feels better she reacted as if I had insulted her. She said, “Grandpa
I’m already feeling better!”. It was obvious she seriously doubted my sanity
(join the club). I had to conduct the call by myself last night because my Favorite
Panamanian abandoned me to escort the upstairs neighbors to the David feria (the
annual city fair). Out of revenge concerns (see yesterday’s post) and not wanting
to leave the beach, I stayed home (she’d didn’t have enough C4). I was glad I
did as it was so good to hang with the family, even if over the electromagnetic
spectrum. Wingman looked exhausted but all his hard work opening his new restaurant
has paid off with spectacular results for which the owners specifically
assigned responsibility to him. We also got a dry season caliber sunset even
though it was a lonely beach. It was still the beach.
