Day 6 of Rummaging Photos

A semi-big event happened yesterday during my Favorite Panamanian’s latest shopping expedition with her mom. She had released me to my own devices, which meant a movie, of course (see below).  They decided I needed a new pair of jeans. I think it was the holes in the back that convinced them. Like any red blooded man who was raised in New England, jeans are my standard pants, even though youngsters probably think I’ve outgrown them. Outgrowing is part of the story. For many years I sported 34” by 34’ for a size. With the advent of middle age and my promotion to colonel that size eased up to 36” by 34” and I believed that ship had permanently sailed. I recently wrote that I had finally got my weight back down to what it was when I was a major. My wife also noticed that my current jeans, in addition to the holes, looked kind of baggy on me. They showed up last evening with the smaller size and when I nervously tried them on, they not only fit but there was a little leeway as well. Kind of cool.

Let’s plunge into today’s continuation the memory rummaging with photos mined from the basement storage bins:

Two horror movies by myself in a row, a new record with Barbarian. A really good horror movie that slowly builds up tension and then delivers with a knockout underground confrontation. The heroine is challenged on a number of levels by uncaring police, a Me Too exposed actor, not to mention the denizens of the deep. She stumbles upon a strange passage way hidden beneath her rented house in one of those blighted areas of Detroit. Once the mystery reveals itself, she determinedly battles for her life against seemingly supernatural odds. Georgina Campbell was tone perfect as the lead actress struggling not to make the “horror movie wrong choices”. Really good movie.

Two movies fell in my A-Z effort, both keepers (although one only because it was a gift), The Birds (classic Hitchcock, has aged well and Tippi, oh my) and The Black 6 (possibly worst movie ever made, unintentional comedy through the roof, NFL players in a Blaxploitation film).
