We’re into our second full day of solo FBR residence and it has rained almost the entire time. Undaunted by all the moisture, the FBR doesn’t require the supervision the much younger versions did. I kind of miss that, but she is definitely an independent young lady. On Sunday before the BRS and BR3 departed we took in a trip to the cinema to see a movie about a Teenaged Kraken (didn’t even know that was a thing). The BRS and FBR were perfect angels during the flick and we returned to the house to find BR3, freshly awakened from her nap, wreaking havoc back at the house with her abuela. The New Hampshire bunch departed shortly thereafter but we were lucky to have my daughter with us overnight before she returned to New Jersey.
Sunday Dinner Out
We went out to eat where I was once
again struck by how fast the FBR is growing up since she pulled out the menu
and ordered for herself with out any adult assistance. It was testament to the three
granddaughters early rising Sunday morning that the FBR, now soloing, went
right to sleep that night. My daughter had to drive home right after breakfast on
Monday while we planned on a Boston Symphony Orchestra Concert followed by
fireworks in nearby Institute Park Monday night. About halfway through the day,
despite some emerging sunshine I learned the concert had been delayed until
tonight due to rain. We took the FBR to her favorite Worcester playground in
Elm Park during that brief sunny time. Once again, her age was telling as she
easily climbed apparatus that I used to have to help her with. As predicted the
rains came, deluge level, early in the evening.FBR and BRS at Theater
I’ve also learned that the FBR is an
able ally in my squirrel interdiction campaign.
Once she learned I didn’t want them in the bird feeder, she would launch
out on Deckzilla with a bloodcurdling cry that would make a banshee proud. Today
was a solid day of rain, although the weather forecasters claim the rain will
stop around six and tonight’s fireworks should go off. Our only problem being
the concert was rescheduled for tonight but the fireworks were canceled.
Worcester always has options though, so we’re going to a WooSox game tonight
that has fireworks following. The Ladies Consulting
At Playground Yesterday So Strong
Before that takes place we killed the
soggy afternoon with another movie. The FBR had already seen Elementals, the
latest Pixar creation, but that didn’t deter a return trip to insure her grandfather
was exposed to it. It was a fun afternoon. I’m dealing with yet another minor
Man Cave crisis as the remote for my sound system crapped out a couple days
ago. This means I have to suffer the indignity of actually standing up and
walking across the room when I switch between video sources. Amazon once again
claims to have come to the rescue with a replacement remote due in on Thursday.
The trials and tribulations of modern life. But Cute
Two movies fell in my A-Z watch, both keepers, The Drop, Hardy’s “Bob” is one of my favorite movie characters of all time, “No one sees you coming, do they?”; and Dumb and Dumber, still a lot of inappropriate laughs.
