Apolitical

Yesterday was about as much fun as vinegar laced paper cuts.  Yep. I got to spend an entertaining two hours with politicians, which is never a good thing.  I’ve been working hard to fix some of the problems with the schedules since we moved to the new hub in early June.  Yesterday’s board meeting was when the changes were presented to the board and voted on.
The Board Meeting
This meeting, of course, provided one of the board members, gearing up for an upcoming election, to jump onto his soap box and play to the crowd.  He launched into an attack on the management saying we were responsible for the problems.  He conveniently forgot, ignored, or just doesn’t know that the problems with the routing were products of the board member sitting to his immediate right who engineered the routing on all of the problem routes despite our advice.  The fixes proposed were to overcome the problems his buddy created.

We were forced to listen to his uninformed clap trap for the better part of twenty minutes until I think he (joining the rest of us in this assessment) realized he had overstepped his base of knowledge.  He even recovered a little bit in my eyes when he confronted our usual “voice of inappropriate value” when she stood up to make her customary diatribe.

I was finally released from the pain of this adventure when all of the changes were approved unanimously.  I then rushed back to the office to continue trying to translate the plans into reality.  Long day at work, but I got to go home to a very spicy Panamanian which is never a bad thing.
