Solo Mom-ing & a Lazy Wisteria

My thoughts and prayers are extended to my nothing less than fabulous daughter in law, the aptly named ABFA. Today she went back to work after maternity leave but that didn’t involve a change in scenery since her firm is still working from home in Pandemia. That doesn’t mean she didn’t experience an immense alteration to her environment. The BRS returned to day care a couple weeks ago but today was the day BR3 joined her sister. This marked the first time she and her mom would be apart for an entire day.

The Newly Solo Mom - The Incredible ABFA

She’s going to the same day care facility as her sister so the BRS was able to escort her sis to the front door. I know there were moments over the past few months when the ABFA longed for the silent house she is now undergoing and I also know she’s now regretting those feelings. We talked about it this past weekend and she was dreading not having her “tiny humans” around. Hang in there ABFA, they will come home this afternoon.

Day Care Sent ABFA This Picture Showing BR3 is Handling it Like a Champ

I handled another project at home yesterday. My wife acquired a wisteria plant back in the early summer. The plan was to have this voracious climber reach the top of Deckzilla, reminiscent of a home we lived in the late 1980s in D.C. Apparently, we got a lazy one because it balked at going above the seating rail. We tried to find a trellis but no one seemed to be selling them anymore. My wife then had the great idea that I build one.

I was enthusiastic because this isn’t something I’d done before and I have a grotesquely inflated opinion of my carpentry skills. I bought the wood but was a little hesitant to start until I consulted with my Favorite Panamanian. She, blessed with a sense of style I am completely bereft of, quickly pointed out how I should go about it. With this guidance in hand I actually got it done fairly quickly and truly enjoyed it, well, except for the thirteen times I dropped a screw between the floor planks. Now to get the wisteria on some growth hormones.

Can't Wait for Election to Be Over
