We’re into the reaping what was sown department of the pandemic in the US.
Trump realized early on that the economy was his, if you’ll pardon the expression,
trump card, for the upcoming election. Voters might have overlooked his performance
in other areas and his personality (though that’s a tough endeavor) if the
economy had continued to boom. Covid changed all that and despite his seeming unwillingness
to not see any bad news about himself he had to realize a second term was in
deep peril. Can anyone say Ukraine! His chances for re-election went south with
the economy.
He then decided to gamble and tried to downplay the virus. This is where
his miscalculation occurred. Instead of providing leadership and uniting the
country to confront the pandemic he went his usual route. Some of his southern
lemmings holding governorships followed suit and opened up way too early and
tried to restart the economy. Arizona, Texas, and Florida are now paying the price
for that shortsightedness. The sad thing is (if you’re a Trump supporter which
I am admittedly not) if he had done the right thing and kept things closed just
a little longer the southern tier would be in the same shape as the Northeast
and the economy would be revving up. He just wasn’t patient enough. He
miscalculated.

Learning from her Sister the BRS |
No miscalculation during our nightly calls with the granddaughters. BR3’s
personality is definitely emerging. Up until this week whenever we called she
was usually in a post-feeding torpor and delivering a withering blank stare.
Last night she was all smiles as my son joked with her. My Favorite Panamanian
was convinced that she was responding to the the phone screen but that could be
a projection of herself. Granted my wife did contribute to the gene pool so an
affinity for phones and shopping are not to be dismissed lightly.
