I know I sound like a broken record but the lack of
a proper celebration of the First Friday of the Week has to rank up there with the
biggest social losses due to the coronavirus pandemic. I’m considering a class
action lawsuit attacking government restrictions that have impacted on the near
religious experience that is First Friday. On second thought, paying for
lawyers would impact on my ability to buy beer, so, never mind. I’ve remained faithful
to the creed and, as with all other quarantined Fridays I stocked up the
refrigerator this morning in preparation for celebratory activities this
afternoon.
My Favorite Panamanian is also getting into the swing
of things this Friday. Literally. She informed me that she plans to join me in celebrating
this Friday with some wine. The price she exacted for joining me on the dark
side is thoroughly predictable. We will be dancing. Note to self – insure all
the window blinds are drawn; no reason to scare the neighbors.
The beacon of light in our quarantined existence
remains conversations with our family. The BRS loves being outside and when we caught
up with her and my Favorite Son last evening she was out in the front yard
jumping off her favorite rock. While she was reveling in the crisp spring air
her dad was suffering. You could tell who had ¾ New England blood versus the half-Panamanian.
It was funny watching him trying to convince her it was time to go inside.
The FBR was also in high form yesterday although
apparently her streak of good behavior days was challenged by a mid-day snit.
Wingman reported she was seriously in danger of losing her daily star which
results in a weekend “movie night” with her parents. I asked the FBR about this
and she solemnly replied, “I had some trouble but then I calmed down”. I could
not stop laughing.
