Well yesterday didn’t lack for an abundance of news. Putin’s dirty little war was trotted out for
the world to fully see. This had to be
the last thing he wanted with the rest of the world pretty much ignoring his adventurism
in Eastern Ukraine. In what amounts to the
same act as giving kindergarten students a machine gun, he allowed the Ukrainian
rebels access and training to SA11 air defense weapons systems. When idiots are armed beyond their command
and control to trust the inevitable happens.
Malaysian Airlines were the unfortunate recipient of the
missile launched by the rebels (does anybody still have stock in that
airlines?). I’m sure the Russian SVR is
working around the clock to obfuscate the facts, trust nothing you hear from
the region over the next week. The
bigger question is what the hell was a civilian airliner doing transitioning a
war zone. Is fuel savings really worth flying
through an area populated with bozos capable of reaching up and touching you at
40,000 feet?
An SA-11, Just Happened to Fall into Rebel Hands |
The Israelis, never one to forego an opportunity, seized the
day when everyone was looking at Ukraine to launch their ground invasion of
Gaza. Nothing to see here, move along,
move along. The Palestinians have no one
to blame but themselves as they continue to pointlessly launch rockets into
Israel which brings the predictable Israeli response. The Arabs are so tied into their most radical
elements that even when they want to make a deal for a ceasefire those most
radical just walk down the street to throw a few more rockets or mortar shells
to wreck the prospects.
Israelis Marching to the Sea, Again |
Events back at home were much more mundane and I’m not
talking about the absolute silence from the White House on yesterday’s
momentous worldwide events. After a full
day at work I was called upon to rescue my daughter from the train station in
the deepest, darkest regions of Connecticut.
She’s coming up to spend the weekend.
I made record time getting down there but apparently that was enough to
trip some sort of alarm because the Connecticut highway department tried to
throw a haymaker at us during our return trip.
They were, however, no match for my daughter and her I-phone. When Connecticut reduced the 5 lane I-84 to
one lane she skillfully navigated us through some back roads completely around
the attempted ambush. She’s good.
