Pre-School Artistry

I discovered this morning that re-inserting a temporary cap on a tooth without the aid of Novocain is not up there on the fun meter. My cap fell out at lunch on Monday and the past couple days have been interesting with the exposed root. Basically anything cold, including air passing by, produced lancing pain – so not a lot of fun. The last step before re-cementing the damned thing in place at the dentist is blowing cold air on the exposed root to dry it out, again not a very entertaining situation. I’m fully capped again and ready for the birthday pub crawl where I’m told that tooth stands a certain chance of encountering coldish type beverages in nearly incapacitating amounts.
I received this photo today from the FBR. She is using her newly acquired artist’s pad to express herself. Predictably, based on Disney’s most recent advertising campaign, with a character from Frozen, a snowman named Olaf I’m told, although my Favorite Panamanian thought it was a turkey. I witnessed last night during our evening Facetime call the very last bit of birthday cake head downrange. The FBR didn’t think she should have to split it with her mother but eventually relented. After she finished the cake she asked her mother what was for dessert. Sometimes it’s just flat impossible to keep a straight face.
My Favorite Panamanian uncharacteristically braved the weirdly frigid November cold last night to accompany me on date night to see Last Christmas. This is the first salvo of the Christmas season movies and might have been more suited for the Hallmark channel except for the powerhouse cast including the unstabbed Khaleesi and one of my true favorites – Emma Thompson. She was also involved in the writing and plays an overbearing Croatian immigrant mother flawlessly. It’s a very cute story of a young gal working as an elf in the year round Christmas themed store. She’s struggling with herself after a recent, deliberately obscure, health crisis. She runs into a mysterious young man who helps guide her into finding herself. The twist is fairly easy to spot but I’ll still have to re-see this at some point to understand additional clues I missed. A really good watch but since Christmas was involved I’m extremely biased. Then again, Thompson was involved so quality was guaranteed.
