This Young Lady Had One of her Rare Grouchy Calls Last Night |
I have further evidence that my wife
could be at least partially psychotic. She’s very driven when it comes to completing
a task she’s set out for herself but at times it robs her of fully accessing the
common sense portion of the cerebellum. Last night was a perfect example. She’s
spent the last two days slaving over Christmas cookies which I consider a truly
noble task. However last night, after we returned from our date night movie,
she was eying an uncompleted batch of cookie dough with avarice.
She was Still Utterly Charming |
I told her it was much too late,
nearing 10pm, to start in again, that it could wait for today. She nodded
sagely as I disappeared into the Man Cave. An hour later I heard the ominous
sounds above me and walked up to find her in mid-batch. She looked at me
guiltily and explained she couldn’t resist the siren call of completing the
task. She didn’t come up to bed until nearly one in the morning. Some things
you just have to forgive, especially if it involves Spritz Christmas cookies.
Before this debacle we went to see
Office Christmas Party which was okay and at times hilarious. You’ve seen his
movie before but rarely with an A-list cast. It was a little scatterbrained as
I think the director let the actors go with a lot of improvisation rather than
follow a coherent plan. Kate McKinnon steals every scene she’s in as the
hardened HR lady. She’s a lot of fun to watch. You get the impression of barely
suppressed rage and or mania bubbling just below the surface with her. Jason Bateman
does what he does best, making snarky off hand comments on the insanity
surrounding him which results in some of the funniest moments. Olivia Munn as a
computer coding genius has to go down as a huge stretch. I know this is getting
skewered by most critics but it’s mostly semi-harmless fun and certainly not
for children.
