Has
anyone seen the month of October? Usually, my favorite month of the year in
terms of weather, but the past week has been t-shirt and shorts time. I can remember
snow flurries and having to wear winter garb during this month not too long
ago. We haven’t even thought about turning the heat on yet, well except for my mother
in law’s room where the split system has been keeping her warm and toasty on these
challenging 60-degree nights. I know New England is saving up a sucker punch
where we’ll transfer directly from summer to winter so I’ve been checking up on
the snow blower.

Explaining to Dad Where Rivers Come From |
This
is, of course, not unprecedented but it’s still warm. I remember yet another very
warm October weekend forty years ago when Great Aunt and Soxfather tied the knot.
Yes, that venerable couple reaches their forty-year anniversary today and I couldn’t
be happier for them. Of course, I blame them for my own marital sate. I had
such a good time at their wedding that when I flew back to Panama after the ceremony,
I proposed to my Favorite Panamanian less than a month later, three days after
I met her. It’s fortunate the right girl entered the picture at that point, otherwise
who knows where I would have needed up. Apologizing for that digression, happy anniversary
to two of my most cherished friends – Great Aunt and Soxfather!

BRS Flashing a Devastating Smile |
Both
FBR and the BRS had play dates yesterday with school chums so they’re doing
better than their grandpa. I was consigned thot the Man Cave where at least I saw
the Red Sox rebound with an absolute skull dragging of the Houston Astros. As
Soxfather keeps saying, it’s all gravy at this point for this Sox team.
Late last night I also finished watching
Squid Game which lived up to the universal hype surrounding it. The Korean
movie industry does a great job of skewering the human condition, especially
with respect to class struggle. It was true train wreck that I couldn’t take my
eyes off of.
