While
things around Worcester got back to normal pretty quickly after our major snow storm,
the key difference is we have no young children or pets in the house. That, of
course, makes life much easier to confront, even in this cursed pandemic. Both
my son’s and daughter’s families are in a different category entirely. That
meant Tuesday and Wednesday were snow days for that bunch.

BRS and Riggins Cooperating on Snow Sculpture |
I
had no illusions about my daughter venturing out into the snow as she is almost
as averse to the cold as her mother, my Favorite Panamanian. Wingman, though,
is made of sterner stuff despite his Southern California roots. It could be the
years he spent in Minneapolis which means you deal with the cold or you don’t survive.
At any rate, he had the FBR out cavorting in the more than two feet of snow
they received. She’s rapidly outgrowing the snow suit but still showed she had
some New England DNA by truly enjoying the snow time. She regaled us with her feats
of legerdemain during our FaceTime calls although she spent most of the time
with us trying to add new creatures to the screen via her iPad’s filter. She was
a little upset when we ended the call after she stopped speaking for five
minutes while she fiddled with the screen. My daughter stayed safely inside,
continuing to work from home, during the snow adventures, but she and the FBR
did gear up for a LA La Land sendoff to the day shortly before bedtime on both
nights. That’s when they put their favorite scene from LA La Land on the TV and
then dance together with the ladies on the screen.

Cold Averse Daughter |
Her
northern cousin, the BRS, also loves frolicking in the snow along with Riggins.
The ABFA had them both outside enjoying the deep snow. Riggins stayed out so
long he ended up with mini-snowballs glommed onto his most of his
undercarriage. The BRS climbed up her snow covered playground to claim
pre-eminence over the backyard while Riggins tunneled through the snow drifts
below. The FBR also helped her dad out by pulling all the snow poles out that
marked the sides of the driveway for the snow plow. When they moved inside BR3 continued
her devastatingly adorable ways. I didn’t think it would be possible but she’s
become even more entertaining recently and now waves to the camera when she hears
our (mostly my Favorite Panamanian’s) voices. We are so looking forward to our
trip north to see them this weekend to celebrate the BRS’ third birthday.
