Inevitability of Surf and Dragonfly Clouds

What I'm Seeing Right Now
I’ve spent the last few days here at the beach condo with the view above as my almost constant sight. There really is something soothing about the sound and the certain inevitability of the oncoming surf. The picture above is my view right now as I write this and there’s nothing not to recommend it. I’ve gotten into a routine where I don my swim shirt (having had enough of dermatologists excavating on me) and head out for some boogie boarding. I walked out today and looked either way on the pristine beach. I could see at least a mile in each direction and I had the entire expanse completely to myself, well, me and the pelicans. The surf was a lot more biddable today and I managed several rides all the way into ankle depth water.
Yesterday there were several other families in the condo complex for the weekend with a number of small children charging around, completely soaking the elevator floor. I loved it though and more because it made me think of the future when my kids and the FBR/BRS come to visit. I spend a lot of time thinking about those times and wishing they would get here sooner. I sat in the pool this morning after jousting with the waves and noticed a veritable swarm of dragonflies swooping through the area. I’ve seen them for each day I’ve been here and it’s something I hadn’t seen in my other visits. Since it’s an insect and we’re in Panama of course they’re a lot bigger than the stateside version. I’m comforted to think how many mosquitoes each of them had to eat to get that big. The swarm was in the hunt mode seeking out all the low lying areas which is where their food source lingers in the heat of the day.
Old Man Brady - Back to Work
Yesterday my Favorite Panamanian had me charging around Las Lajas since she was under the weather. She stayed in bed but she has a favorite seaside restaurant down the beach where she ordered some take out. I was the take out part of the equation. It’s about a three mile drive down the pot holed road to this place and my wife assured me they had received the order and would be waiting on me. Of course, this is Panama so things move at a little slower pace. I arrived and the young girl looked at me cross eyed when I asked about the take out order. Luckily a few minutes later her mother showed up, remembered me from an earlier visit and said she would get the order. Ten minutes later she came back out and said they had just finished cleaning the fish and would have the meals ready “soon”. Like I said – Panama. This did give me time to commune with their collection of parrots and I like to think I bonded with a couple of them over the ensuing fifteen minute wait.
Walk Off Win!
I was planning on sneaking over to the Show Pony Hotel to hopefully catch some NFL action but when I drove past on my way back with two fragrant fish dinners permeating the car the bar was unexpectedly packed. I therefore spent the day back home, not a bad situation, at all. Both the Patriots and the Red Sox were playing good Houston teams yesterday and I was pleased to eventually learn that they both won as Houston went 0 for Boston. That was an excellent way to end the day. Strangely I didn’t feel too put out to have missed watching either game, the view of the beach with all its inevitability certainly helped. We’ll leave shortly for David and the next round with the paper pushers. Hopefully we can knock that out quickly enough to get me back here for a few more days.
